Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Collaborate with the maintenance team to establish practical formats for work instructions.
• Review equipment location, naming conventions, maintenance tasks, and components to determine optimal structure.
• Create detailed work instructions for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities on all Single Point of Failure equipment.
• Develop standardised instructions for common maintenance tasks across production equipment, including in-house calibration procedures.
• Document maintenance checks and procedures for critical manufacturing systems.
• Undertake maintenance activities alongside trained technicians to test and validate work instructions.
• Gather feedback to refine work instruction structure and improve clarity and efficiency.
• Release completed work instructions into Rocket Lab's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and collaborate with the Enterprise Information Systems team for integration.
• Create comprehensive training materials and templates for use across multiple Rocket Lab sites.
• Develop process maps to communicate maintenance workflows clearly.
• Support creation of Power BI reports to capture maintenance KPIs within AS9100 quality standards.
• Upload all process documentation to Rocket Lab's information database and prepare handover documentation for long-term maintenance.
• Take ownership of tasks, manage deadlines, communicate effectively with peers and stakeholders, and support teammates as needed.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and standard operating procedures.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently studying or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills with ability to create clear, detailed instructions for technicians of varying experience.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to create process maps and flowcharts.
• Comfortable working in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Ownership and accountability for task completion and results delivery.
• Proactive communicator, comfortable seeking clarification and feedback from technical staff.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams including maintenance technicians, engineers, and IT staff.
• Nice to have: experience with mechanical equipment maintenance, basic understanding of CMMS, familiarity with PPM concepts, experience with Power BI or data visualization tools, knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality standards, understanding of reliability or maintenance engineering principles, experience with ERP or maintenance software, familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, hands‑on workshop or manufacturing experience, and passion for aerospace and innovation.
