Job summary

ALH Auckland is seeking Experienced Mechanical/Heavy Mechanical Fitters for roles both onsite and in the workshop across strip-down, repair and rebuild of plant and machinery. Heavy/plant experience is a strong plus; you should be comfortable working from drawings, manuals and specs and performing diagnostics and routine servicing.

You'll join a hands-on team offering weekly pay, PPE supplied, and long-term opportunities with potential for permanent roles, with a focus on safety and quality on

Qualifications

  • NZ fitting qualification or equivalent trade certification.
  • Experience with heavy mechanical/plant fitting strongly preferred.
  • Ability read technical drawings, manuals and specs.
  • Ability operate hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Full NZ Driver's licence and MOJ pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

  • Strip, inspect, repair, and reassemble plant components and machinery.
  • Fit, align, and set up mechanical parts to spec.
  • Read and work from drawings, manuals, and specs.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
  • Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Welding/cutting support as required.
  • Keep to safety and quality standards on site and in the workshop.

You’ll be working across the strip-down, repair, and rebuild of plant, machinery, and mechanical components. Heavy mechanical or plant experience is a strong plus - if you’ve worked on earthmoving gear, fixed plant, or industrial machinery before, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Bring
  • A recognised NZ fitting qualification - this could be a National/NZ Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Fitting/Machining pathway), a completed mechanical fitting apprenticeship, or an equivalent trade qualification
  • Heavy mechanical/plant fitting experience highly regarded
  • Confidence reading technical drawings, manuals, and specs
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Full NZ Driver's licence
  • Clean MOJ check and pre-employment drug test required (random testing may also apply)
  • Owning your own tools and PPE (mask/chaps) a bonus - but not essential
