Job summary

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment seeks a Chief Knowledge Officer to unite MBIE's data, information and analytics into a single strategic function in Wellington. You will lead governance, strategy and platforms to turn information into trusted knowledge for better policy decisions.

You will report to the Deputy Secretary CDSS and guide collaboration across government, academia and industry, strengthening knowledge, evidence and analytical capability for public value.

Qualifications

• Executive leadership across enterprise data, analytics, information and knowledge management.
• Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary functions with enterprise data and insights.
• Proven track record delivering data-driven strategies to improve decisions and value.
• Strategic thinker linking government priorities to capability needs and risks.
• Strong influencing and cross-functional leadership across senior stakeholders.
• Passion for innovation including AI and advanced analytics; ethical use.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert strategic advice to MBIE's Senior Leadership Team and lead the Empowered by Data roadmap.
• Establish MBIE as a knowledge-led organisation with governed data and insights as assets.
• Build enterprise knowledge management framework to strengthen memory and compliance.
• Drive capability across data, analytics and knowledge management for evidence-informed decisions.
• Build partnerships and position MBIE as a leader in knowledge stewardship.
