Job summary

Air New Zealand is accelerating its journey to become the world's leading digital airline. This role sits in the Architecture Chapter and acts as a trusted strategic partner across business areas, collaborating with Tribe leaders to envision, plan and design the Tribe ecosystem to deliver customer-centric service outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading enterprise architecture initiatives.
  • Ability to translate complex problems into actionable strategy.
  • Experience partnering with Tribe leads and executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the architecture vision for the Tribe, consulting on strategy and long-term roadmaps in conjunction with the wider Architecture community.
  • Work as a strategic lead within the Tribe, supporting the Tribe Lead and Tribe Digital Lead to develop the capabilities required to step change delivery of Air New Zealand digital products.
  • Participate and lead architecture governance processes to ensure decisions impacting our digital estate are within the digital dexterity guard-rails and aligned with the strategic platform direction.
  • Evangelise and communicate effectively the Architecture value proposition to enable and align the Tribe vision and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in vendor selection processes by providing strategic guidance and using architecture tools such as capability maps, to guide the definition of selection criteria and evaluation.
  • Work closely with Tribe leadership team to provide visibility of the options available in the market, do the necessary research and facilitate balanced build vs buy vs subscribe discussions and decision making.
  • Set and govern architecture guardrails for shared, enterprise-level “intentional” architecture.
  • Provide autonomy and expertise to product managers to make product level “emergent” architecture decisions.
  • Represent Air New Zealand in events of relevance for the industry or for our technology landscape (both attending and/or presenting).

Key Skills and Experience:
  • The ability to rapidly gain the trust of Tribe and Executive stakeholders and communicate effectively to this audience is paramount
  • Exceptional ability tocollate and express complex problems and systems into digestible concepts and enabledecision making at all levels
  • Consult on digitising end-to-end services to improve operating model delivery
  • Strategic thinking is a core skillrequiredfor this role along with a broad, diverse product anddigitalbackground
  • Experienceproviding architectural leadership to enterprise procurementefforts
  • An understanding of commercial and financialconceptsishighly desirable
