Job summary

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is modernising New Zealand's housing systems and architecture at national scale. You will contribute to enterprise architecture, security governance and technology risk while working with senior leaders to align solutions with business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, influencing and credibility building with senior business and technology leaders in large, complex organisations.
  • Strong understanding of business models, operating models and drivers of transformation.
  • Experience developing business capabilities, value streams, roadmaps and reference architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Influence enterprise-wide strategy and shape technology capabilities across the organisation.
  • Tackle complex enterprise challenges and ensure technology investments are secure, sustainable and cost-effective.
  • Coach and mentor architects, technical leads and project teams to achieve business outcomes.
  • Foster innovation, architectural maturity and continuous improvement across teams and organisations.

What you will bring
  • A proven ability to communicate, influence, and build credibility with senior business and technology leaders in large, complex organisations
  • Strong understanding of business models, operating models, and the factors that drive organisational performance and transformation
  • Demonstrated experience developing business capabilities, value streams, business processes, digital and technology strategies, technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and organisational operating models
  • Significant experience delivering enterprise-wide change within government or other large, complex organisations
  • Knowledge of industry and All-of- Government (AoG) frameworks, methodologies, and standards, including GEA-NZ, TOGAF, ArchiMate, COBIT, ITIL, ISO standards, NIST, NZISM, and the Protective Security Requirements (PSR)
  • Experience applying recognised enterprise architecture frameworks and patterns in practice
  • Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the financial drivers that influence organisational capability, investment, and prioritisation decisions
  • A track record of coaching and mentoring architects, technical leads, project teams, and stakeholders to achieve successful business outcomes
  • Experience fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and architectural maturity across teams and organisations
  • The ability to think strategically and holistically, while connecting contextual, conceptual, logical, and physical views to drive capability uplift and enterprise outcomes
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and actionable business insights for both technical and non-technical audiences
