Job summary

UUNZ is seeking a fixed-term, part-time General English Teacher for morning classes at Symonds Street Campus, Auckland CBD. The role focuses on learner-centred English instruction with 10 hours per week, supporting well-being and academic outcomes within our established programmes.

Essential qualifications include Cambridge CELTA or equivalent, plus experience in General English teaching, exam preparation, and NZCEL is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching General English; experience with exam preparation and NZCEL is an advantage.
  • Must hold Cambridge CELTA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, communicative English lessons within curriculum guidelines.
  • Support learner well-being and adhere to the Code of Practice 2021.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and PD sessions.
  • Contribute to curriculum reviews and improvements to promote learner well-being.

The role:

Location: Symonds Street Campus, Auckland CBD

Schedule: Morning classes (10 hours per week)

Essential qualifications and experience:
  • Cambridge CELTA or equivalent
  • Relevant post-qualifying experience teaching General English (experience with exam preparation classes, English for Academic Purposes and/or NZCEL is an advantage)
Key responsibilities:
  • To plan and deliver high-quality, communicative and learner-centred English language lessons within curriculum guidelines
  • To support UUNZ’s commitment to promoting learner well-being under the Code of Practice 2021
  • To attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions
  • To contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through participation in regular reviews of curriculum materials, teaching and assessment practice, and measures to promote learner well-being
