Job summary

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago seeks a Nurse Aide for the Emergency Department. You will assist physicians and nurses with phlebotomy, transport, monitoring, wound care, Foley catheterization, and lab specimen collection, mostly during 7pm–7am on alternating weekends.

You may start IVs where allowed and must document in the EHR. The role requires a high school graduate with about 1 year of healthcare experience, basic computer skills, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate is required.
• Typically requires 1 year experience in healthcare support.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use EHR systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with phlebotomy, transport, monitors, wound care, Foley catheterization, and lab specimens.
• May start IVs if allowed by state regulations.
• Document procedures and observe patient status in the EHR, communicating needs to nurses.
• Process daily patient charges and related procedures in the EHR.
• Collaborate with physicians to support patient care and coordinate communications (phone, paging, EMS).
• Maintain a clean, safe environment following safety policies and precautions.
• Monitor equipment and troubleshoot minor problems; arrange major repairs as needed.
• Perform patient positioning and lifting with proper technique.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care and awareness of developmental needs.
• Keep knowledge and recertification up to date as required.
