About the Role
This senior onthefloor leadership role focuses on real time patient flow, safety and capacity management in a busy Emergency Department. This is a Fixed Term position to June 2027.
Youll provide visible clinical leadership, make rapid operational decisions, coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges, and work closely with nursing, medical and operational leaders to balance demand and capacity. The role champions patient safety, equity and culturally safe practice, uses data to inform decisions, and leads improvement initiatives that reduce wait times and improve patient experience.

About the Team/Service
The Waikato Emergency Department is a large, fastpaced and highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering care to a diverse and complex population. The team includes experienced emergency nurses, nurse practitioners, medical staff, allied health professionals, healthcare assistants and administrative staff, all working together to provide safe, timely and equitable care.
Leadership within the ED is collaborative and visible, with strong partnerships between Charge Nurse Managers, Nurse Managers, Flow Managers, Emergency Physicians in Charge and Duty Managers. Decisions are made in real time with a shared focus on patient safety, staff wellbeing and system flow.
The ED values teamwork, mutual respect and open communication, and supports staff to work at the top of their scope. There is a strong commitment to equity, cultural safety and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a focus on improving outcomes for Māori, Pacific peoples and other populations experiencing inequity.
