Job summary

WelTec invites applications for an Electrical Tutor to support our pre-trade and apprentice learners at the Petone campus. The role focuses on hands-on practical teaching, learning and assessment in a collaborative, youth-friendly environment.

Successful applicants without teaching qualifications will be supported to achieve a Diploma in Tertiary Learning and Teaching; registered electricians with broad industry experience are preferred, with some mentoring of apprentices.

Qualifications

• Applicants should be registered electricians with broad industry experience.
• Teaching qualifications are not essential; support to achieve the Diploma in Tertiary Learning and Teaching.
• Hours are 40 per week, based at Petone campus; MOJ criminal convic­tions check required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate teaching, learning and assessment for electrical students at pre-trade and apprentice level night classes.
• Mentor or supervise apprentices or workers on the job where appropriate.
• Support on-job training and development toward teaching qualifications.
