Job summary

Higgins Wellington is seeking an experienced Class 4 Driver to join our team for transporting materials and equipment across New Zealand's capital region. You will support crews to deliver infrastructure projects, operate heavy vehicles safely, and uphold Higgins' safety standards.

The role offers a permanent, full-time position with guaranteed hours, plus KiwiSaver and a collaborative team culture. Applicants should have a full NZ Class 2/4 license, WTR endorsements, and experience in civil

Qualifications

• Full NZ Class 2/4 Driver Licence required.
• WTR endorsements required.
• Proven experience operating heavy vehicles in civil/construction/transport.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 2/4 trucks on civil construction, drainage, and maintenance projects.
• Transport aggregates, asphalt, materials, and equipment to and from sites.
• Perform daily pre-start checks and basic vehicle maintenance.
• Support site crews with general labouring and operational tasks.
• Secure loads and comply with legal and company requirements.
• Maintain accurate vehicle and delivery records.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatch.
• Uphold Higgins' safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with the wider team to achieve project goals.
• Assist with traffic management and site activities as required.

What You'll Be Doing

• Safely operate Class 2/4 trucks across a variety of civil construction, drainage, and maintenance projects
• Transport aggregates, asphalt, construction materials, and equipment to and from sites
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Support site crews with general labouring and operational tasks when required
• Ensure all loads are secured and transported in accordance with legal and company requirements
• Maintain accurate vehicle and delivery records
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, site teams, and dispatch personnel
• Promote and uphold Higgins' safety, quality, and environmental standards
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to achieve project goals
• Assist with traffic management and site activities where required

What You'll Bring To The Role

• Full NZ Class 2/4 Driver Licence
• Proven experience operating heavy vehicles in a civil, construction, transport, or similar environment
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing
• Ability to work effectively within a team and take direction when required
• WTR endorsements required
• Civil construction, drainage and roading experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• Flexibility to work additional hours and occasional weekend work when required
