Job summary

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is seeking a Disability Support Worker for a casual role based in Māngere. The position supports tauira with impairments, providing learning-related assistance including typing, notetaking, and academic coaching.

The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification, preferably at a level higher than the tauira being supported, and may benefit from Te Reo Māori proficiency. Prior teaching aide or pastoral experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification, preferably with a qualification above the level of tauira you are supporting.
• Proficiency in Te Reo Māori as this would be advantageous
• Previous Teaching Aide experience preferred
• Experience in a pastoral role, coaching, mentoring, support, or teaching advantageous but not essential

Responsibilities

• Typing, notetaking, and helping them engage with learning materials and online tasks
• Coaching them to break down assignments and understand academic requirements
• Strengthening their skills in independent planning and time management
• Encouraging meaningful connections with Kaiako (teachers), peers, Tauira Services, and the wider learning environment

The Disability Support Worker is used to provide specificlearning related support services (according to the need) to tauira withimpairment(s). In this role, you will:

We are looking for someone who has the following:
