Job summary

Education Review Office invites applications for the role of Director Te Ihuwaka, leading NZ's education evaluation centre. You will shape strategy, oversee research and evidence mobilisation, and foster high‑performing teams across policy, evaluation and practice.

You will build trusted relationships with Ministers, agencies and education providers, ensuring rigorous, credible outputs that influence policy and improve outcomes for learners in Aotearoa.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in policy, research and evaluation.
• Experience mobilising evidence into policy and practice.
• Strong knowledge of NZ Public Service and public policy processes.
• Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for education and ERO's work.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing the strategic vision for Te Ihuwaka.
• Overseeing high‑quality research and evaluation projects.
• Leading mobilisation of evidence into practice and dissemination to stakeholders.
• Building trusted relationships with Ministers, agencies, providers and communities.
• Managing resources, governance and risk to ensure impact.
