Job summary

New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) invites applications for the role of Director Security Services. The position leads the NZIC Security Services Group, providing strategic direction for physical, operational, personnel security, and insider threat management, while also serving as NZSIS Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

The role blends strategy, people leadership, service delivery and governance to strengthen protective security across government departments.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in intelligence or related senior leadership role with a comprehensive understanding of the threat environment.
• Strong leadership and management experience, including building and sustaining high-performing teams.
• Strong relationship management with domestic and international stakeholders.
• Experience leading service delivery and engagement in a complex and changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Governance: set the strategic direction of the Security Services Group and contribute to agency-wide governance.
• People Leadership: foster a high-performing, inclusive, customer-focused culture and develop talent.
• Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement: build relationships with domestic and international partners and support GPSL.
• Delivery Management: oversee security functions across NZIC and government, including governance duties as CISO.
• Organisational Influence: participate in Leadership Team and contribute to agency strategy.
