Overview

Devops Engineer (contract) at Randstad New Zealand – Wellington Based.

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Cloud Engineer to manage core DevOps tools and drive adoption of DevOps practices throughout the organisation. Lead automation initiatives, leverage AI to enhance infrastructure deployment, and contribute to the growth of the DevOps Engineering Capability. This role is pivotal for maintaining high quality of service.

Responsibilities

• Lead DevOps practices and initiatives across the organisation, overseeing tools such as GitHub, Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, Packer, and Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment, testing, and monitoring.
• Develop automation scripts using languages like Python, Shell, and PowerShell to streamline operational tasks and reduce manual intervention.
• Leverage AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud to design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure components securely, including managing Azure Kubernetes Service/OpenShift clusters.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC), supporting deployment of environments using automation tools and processes.

Skills & Experience

• At least 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong background in infrastructure design and management, including Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell, HCL) for automation tasks, pipelines/workflows, Terraform modules, and Ansible collections.
• Solid experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools.
• Relevant certifications are a benefit (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
