Applicants should have NZ Class 5 license, with 2+ years driving experience, and the ability to pass drug/alcohol testing. Weekend shifts and flexible hours are required, with potential forklift and DG licensing if needed.

Job Description

SSB Transport Limited is actively seeking a Class 5 Truck Driver to join our team in Palmerston North, Manawatu / Wanganui, New Zealand. This role is essential for ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods across various routes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety while handling both fragile and heavy items. Core Responsibilities

• Plan and execute delivery routes to ensure timely arrival of goods.
• Operate trucks on various routes, adhering to all traffic regulations.
• Supervise the loading and unloading of products, ensuring careful handling.
• Transport fragile and heavy items with utmost care and precision.
• Maintain and update delivery records accurately for tracking purposes.
• Conduct daily inspections of the truck for cleanliness and mechanical integrity.
• Monitor fuel levels and refuel the truck as needed during operations.
• Report any mechanical defects or maintenance needs promptly to management.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
• Participate in regular safety training and adhere to best practices.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a truck driver in a similar role.
• Possession of a valid NZ Class 5 Driver License or an equivalent overseas license.
• Ability to pass mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
• Availability for weekend and day/night shifts as required by the schedule.
• Flexibility to work between 30 to 70 hours weekly based on operational needs.
• Willingness to obtain a Forklift and Dangerous Goods (DG) license if not already held.

Compensation

The hourly pay for this position ranges from $30 to $35, depending on experience. This role offers the opportunity for a stable work schedule with a minimum of 30 hours per week and the potential for up to 70 hours weekly.

This is a full-time position based in Palmertson North with a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Class 5 Truck Driver, you will play a critical role in ensuring goods are transported safely, efficiently, and on time. Your daily duties will include:

• Operating Class 5 vehicles to transport goods to designated locations
• Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain vehicle safety and compliance
• Adhering strictly to all road safety regulations and company policies
• Accurately completing delivery paperwork and logs
• Maintaining regular communication with dispatch for updates and instructions
• Safely and confidently reversing truck and trailer combinations in varied environments
• Handling and securing loads to prevent damage during transport

Role Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Must be confident to reverse a truck and trailer
• A minimum of 1 year of truck driving experience is required
• Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and flexible hours as required
• Physical fitness to manage the demands of the role, including securing loads
• Strong time management and ability to meet delivery deadlines.
• Good communication skills with customers, dispatch, and other drivers
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and criminal record reference checks.
• Felxible to work in all 3 regions.
