Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking an experienced Data Platform Lead to guide our data products from strategy to delivery. You will own the vision and roadmap, work with the data engineering team on Snowflake/dbt implementations, and ensure analytics outputs deliver clear business value.

This role blends hands-on analytics engineering with product ownership, stakeholder collaboration, and mentoring of engineers to deepen product thinking and data literacy across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Product ownership experience: backlog, requirements, shipping data products.
• dbt proficiency: building transformations, metrics, semantic models.
• Strong SQL skills: design performant queries on large datasets.
• Snowflake experience: cloud data warehouse patterns for data product delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the product vision and roadmap for data products.
• Build data products hands-on with dbt and Snowflake.
• Manage the product backlog and translate business needs into technical specs.
• Lead day-to-day delivery, ceremonies, and prioritisation.
• Drive stakeholder relationships and manage expectations on timelines and scope.
• Mentor engineers on product thinking and business context.
