Job summary

University of Auckland is seeking a Data Analyst to enable data-driven decision-making and support strategic initiatives across UniServices. You will deliver accurate reporting, actionable insights, and process improvements, working closely with the Finance Lead and Senior Leadership Team to inform financial and commercial decisions.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of experience in business/financial analysis, advanced Excel, and familiarity with Power BI or Tableau.

Qualifications

  • Design and maintain interactive dashboards using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency.

You’ll work closely with the Finance Lead and Senior Leadership Team to provide financial analysis and commercial intelligence that informs strategic decisions. Key responsibilities include: Developing and maintaining key business performance metrics and dashboards. Preparing regular and ad hoc reports for the Senior Leadership Team. Analysing financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Designing and maintaining interactive dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Automating reporting processes to improve efficiency. Gathering and documenting business requirements for reporting and process improvements. Conducting process analysis and recommending optimised workflows. Providing market intelligence and benchmarking data for strategic initiatives. Supporting project planning, UAT, and change management activities. Preparing concise, high-quality data summaries and presentations for governance reporting. For more information, please see Position Description This is a Permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) with a salary range of $93,000-$103,000 per annum plus Incentives and benefits, depending on experience. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have strong communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders. What you’ll bring: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field. At least 3 years’ experience in business analysis, financial analysis, or a similar role. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting systems. Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and manage stakeholder relationships effectively. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
