Job summary

Lumino Harris Dental in central Christchurch is seeking a Sterilisation Assistant / Receptionist / Dental Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This varied role spans sterilisation, reception and chairside duties to keep the practice running smoothly.

The successful candidate will be reliable, personable and proactive with a passion for patient care. Training is provided and you’ll work across two levels of the practice.

Qualifications

• Ideally, dental experience would be an advantage, but full training can be provided.
• Reception, administration or customer-facing experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• Great attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Confidence working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Good computer skills, with knowledge of Exact being an advantage.
• Reliable, flexible and team-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• As a Sterilisation Assistant, ensure best practice when cleaning and sterilising instruments.
• Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
• Support the clinical team to help keep the practice running smoothly.
• As a Receptionist, provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients and manage inquiries and appointments.
• Process payments and assist with general administration; help ensure the reception area runs smoothly.
• As a Dental Assistant, provide chairside support and help create a positive patient experience.

Job Description

As a Sterilisation Assistant, you will:

• Ensure best practice is followed when cleaning and sterilising instruments

• Manage patient enquiries and coordinate appointments

• Provide chairside support to our dental professionals
• Help create a positive and comfortable experience for our patients
• Support the clinical team with the day-to-day running of the practice
• Maintain high standards of clinical care and organisation

The hours for this role are:

• Monday: 8:00am – 6:00pm | Sterilisation Assistant
• Wednesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm | Reception
• Friday: 8:00am – 3:0 0pm | Dental Assistant

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous dental experience would be an advantage, but is not essential as full training can be provided for the right person
• Previous reception, administration or customer-facing experience
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
• Great attention to detail and a willingness to learn
• Confidence working in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Good computer skills, with knowledge of Exact being an advantage
