Job summary

Fulton Hogan on the West Coast IDC contract is seeking a Cyclic Operator to join a hands-on crew delivering road maintenance across 870kms of state highways. This full-time, outdoor role involves weekdays and occasional after-hours work to meet operational needs, weather events, or response requirements.

You will inspect roads, respond to emergencies, act as the face of the contract, maintain detailed reporting, and work with the crew to deliver quality service to communities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Road maintenance, ideally cyclic operations.
• Class 2 drivers' licence and WTR endorsements (training can be provided for those without!).
• The ability to work unsupervised as well as in a fast paced team environment.
• A proactive approach to health and safety – it's our #1 priority!
• A strong sense of community ownership, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A focus on quality and caring for the environment.
• A willingness to learn and advance current skills to meet contract objectives.

Responsibilities

• Complete road inspections and required maintenance activities across the network.
• Promptly respond to emergency events/callouts and provide an overall great service to the West Coast community.
• Act as the face of the contract, ensuring a professional approach in public relations.
• Maintain a high attention to detail to produce accurate records and reporting.
• Perform any other general maintenance tasks as required.
• Work closely with the wider crew to deliver Good Work for our customers and communities.

As a Cyclic Operator, you'll be part of a hands-on crew delivering essential road maintenance work across the West Coast network. This is an outdoor role where no two days look exactly the same, and your work will help keep roads safe, reliable, and ready for the communities that use them every day. The West Coast IDC contract involves roading maintenance, renewals and operational work for 870kms of state highways within the district, stretching from Haast in the south to Mokihinui in the north, and across to the main divide of the Southern Alps. It is a full-time position, with work carried out across weekdays and, at times, outside normal hours to meet operational needs, weather events, or response requirements.
