Are you naturally curious, confident working with data and interested in how New Zealand businesses operate?

We're looking for a Customer Insights Analyst to join our Institutional & Business Banking team. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career analyst to turn data into practical insights that create value for customers, Relationship Managers and product teams.

Working alongside experienced team members, you'll analyse customer, portfolio and market information to identify growth opportunities, improve customer outcomes and support key business priorities. You'll also build your commercial and business banking knowledge on the job.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support bespoke customer insights, including sector benchmarking, margin analysis, cash-conversion cycles and working-capital analysis.
  • Help create customer-ready reports, dashboards, playbooks and actionable insights.
  • Build tools that support Relationship Managers, including prospecting lists, opportunity heatmaps and customer retention indicators.
  • Analyse customer behaviour and segment performance to support product, pricing and digital-channel decisions.
  • Monitor market and economic trends affecting SME, corporate, agribusiness and institutional customers.
  • Turn complex information into clear stories and practical recommendations.
  • Track the impact of initiatives and help continuously improve insight tools and content.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
  • You'll bring curiosity, strong analytical thinking and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Up to three years' experience in analytics, insights, research, finance or a related area.
  • A relevant degree in a quantitative, business, economics or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Good Excel skills and some familiarity with SQL or a business-intelligence tool such as Power BI or Tableau, or a strong willingness to learn.
  • The ability to create clear, well-structured reports, dashboards or presentations.
  • An interest in banking, business customers and using data to improve customer outcomes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A basic understanding of financial statements and how businesses operate, or the motivation to develop this knowledge.
  • Experience with Python, R, SAS or predictive modelling would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. Recent graduates with relevant study, internships or project experience are encouraged to apply.
