Job summary

Tarawera High School is seeking a passionate culinary teacher for a part-time, fixed-term role (0.6 FTE) from 02/02/2027 to 17/12/2027, covering curriculum changes. You will teach Secondary (Years 7–15) and wharekura in Technology, focusing on hospitality/food technology and assessment practices. Applicants must have NZ work visa or permanent residency.

NCEA experience is an advantage. The role offers access to commercial and domestic kitchen spaces, authentic curriculum experiences, and ICT

Qualifications

• Must be a certificated teacher with NZ qualifications.
• Experience with NCEA considered an advantage.
• Ability to create authentic curriculum experiences in hospitality/food technology.

Responsibilities

• Teach culinary technology to Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura students.
• Build strong student/teacher relationships and maintain engagement.
• Deliver authentic curriculum experiences and assess student progress.
