Job summary

Reserve Bank of New Zealand (Te Pūtea Matua) invites applications for a fixed-term accounting role supporting the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) until June 2028. You will provide trusted financial advice, lead key reporting, budgeting and forecasting to drive sound financial outcomes.

You’ll partner with DCS leaders and stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting, ensure compliance with standards and governance, and support Treasury and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting.
  • CAANZ membership or be working towards Chartered Accountant status (or international equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, financial statements and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to provide trusted financial advice to stakeholders.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and financial systems capability.
  • Experience with TechnologyOne would be advantageous.

  • Lead the preparation of DCS financial reporting, annual financial statements, budgeting and forecasting activities to support effective decision-making.

Te tūranga | The role

Join Te Pūtea Matua in a pivotal accounting role supporting the successful delivery of New Zealand's Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS). Provide trusted financial advice and lead key financial reporting processes to support the DCS team. Fixed term role until June 2028.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring DCS financial obligations are delivered to a high standard. You'll provide expert accounting support, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver sound financial outcomes.

In this role, you’ll:

We’re looking for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, can confidently navigate complex issues, and have a passion for delivering high-quality financial outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $109,466to $130,000 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
