Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hastings is seeking a Cook to join our Nutrition & Food Service team. You will prepare and deliver nutritious meals for patients, Meals on Wheels recipients, caf customers and staff in a fast-paced hospital kitchen.

You will follow recipes, maintain strict food safety standards and ensure timely delivery to service areas. A current Food Safety Certificate and experience in large-scale catering or healthcare settings are required.

Qualifications

  • Current Food Safety Certificate.
  • Experience in caf and bulk food preparation and cooking.
  • Strong understanding of food safety practices and Safe Food Pro.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A relevant cooking or hospitality qualification.
  • Experience working within a large-scale catering or healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Cook within our Nutrition & Food Service team, you will play an important role in preparing and delivering nutritious, high-quality meals for patients, Meals on Wheels recipients, caf customers, and staff. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, you will prepare and cook a variety of meals, follow established recipes, maintain food safety standards, and ensure meals are delivered to service areas on time.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Nutrition & Food Service team provides essential catering services across Hawke's Bay Hospital, supporting patients, Meals on Wheels clients, visitors, and staff. We are a collaborative team that takes pride in delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality food while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

About you

As a Cook, you will bring:
