Deloitte New Zealand in Wellington is seeking a Consultant in Business Controls & Assurance. You’ll join our Audit, Assurance & Reporting Advisory practice and work on controls assurance engagements across various industries.

You’ll collaborate with engagement teams, develop practical reporting for senior stakeholders, and coach junior team members while applying sound judgment to evaluate control design and effectiveness. This permanent role offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in internal audit, controls assurance or risk advisory roles.
• Experience gained within a professional services firm.
• Bachelor of Commerce, ideally majoring in Economics, Finance, Business Analytics or Management.
• Clear and confident communication with stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail with broader risk implications.
• Problem-solving mindset with practical recommendations.
• Interest in coaching others as part of a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating closely with your engagement team and leaders across Deloitte; exposure to clients and industries.
• Leading and delivering internal audit and controls assurance engagements with clear reporting for senior management.
• Developing understanding of key business processes, risks and controls; identifying improvement areas.
• Applying professional judgement to evaluate control effectiveness and risk exposure.
• Coaching and developing junior team members.
