Job summary

Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections is seeking three experienced Contract Managers to oversee a portfolio of community-based contracts. You will ensure service quality, performance, and outcomes while maintaining strong relationships with iwi, hapū, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Your role involves end-to-end contract lifecycle management, strategic and operational oversight, and alignment with Te Ao Māori values.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in managing community/service contracts.
• Strong relationship building with iwi, hapū, NGOs and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of government procurement and public sector frameworks.
• Ability to analyse performance, financial and risk information.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving in complex environments.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working with Māori and diverse providers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lifecycle of community contracts from design to implementation.
• Build trusted partnerships with providers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement across funded services.
• Provide strategic and operational advice to Department and external partners.
• Manage negotiations and ensure culturally responsive contract outcomes.
