Job summary

Theta, a New Zealand‑owned technology consultancy, Wellington-based, seeks a high‑impact technical lead who moves across engagements to drive momentum and unblock critical issues. You’ll work with clients and stakeholders, champion best practices, and shape architecture while prioritising delivery within time and budget.

With strong hands‑on experience in C#/.NET, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, and either Flutter or React Native, you’ll lead software squads, implement CI/CD pipelines, and

Qualifications

• 10+ years delivering software solutions in a commercial environment.
• Hands-on experience with the Microsoft C# development stack on .NET.
• Significant development experience with Angular 10+, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Significant development experience with Flutter or React Native.
• Excellent communication, both oral and written, to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer-facing consultancy experience including presales and project delivery.
• Familiar with software development best practices and modern architecture patterns.
• Leadership experience leading software development squads.
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines with build and test automation (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Track record of championing adoption of AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).

This Wellington based role is for someone exceptional – an “all-rounder”. You work well with clients and stakeholders, gel with the team and when the chips come down... you get things done, even if that means flying solo. Best practices, architecture and automation are your bread and butter, and you overflow with ideas on how to make things better, yet you are pragmatic and able to prioritise to fit delivery within time and budget.

This isn’t your standard technical lead role. You’ll be a high-impact technical lead who moves across engagements to add momentum and help unblock critical issues.

Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

• 10+ years delivering software solutions in a commercial environment
• Deep, hands‑on experience with the Microsoft C# development stack on .NET
• Significant development experience utilising Angular 10+, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Significant development experience with either Flutter or React Native
• Superb communication skills, oral and written, and ability to articulate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
• Customer-facing experience, ideally in a consultancy environment, both in presales and project-led interactions
• Familiar with software development best practices and modern architecture patterns
• Leadership experience, running software development squads
• Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines with build and test automation (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• A track record of championing/supporting the adoption of AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.) in a commercial environment.

Nice to have:

• Experience working in Scrum and Kanban teams
• Familiar with Python
• Web development experience using React and other similar frameworks
• Relevant Microsoft certifications
• Experience in non-Microsoft tools and frameworks
