Job summary

Auckland DHB in Auckland seeks an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our liaison psychiatry service, delivering specialist assessments for inpatients and emergency presentations, with outpatient follow-up.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with a focus on cultural safety and professional development, including teaching registrars and medical students, and contributing to service development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Council of NZ is required or eligible.
• Fellowship FRANZCP or equivalent.
• Experience in liaison psychiatry or related subspecialties (adult, addiction, neuropsychiatry).

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

This role focuses on liaison psychiatry, providing specialist assessments and consultations for general hospital inpatients and emergency presentations, as well as outpatient follow-up. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, cultural safety, and professional development.

What We’re Looking For

• Vocational registration in Psychiatry (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Fellowship with FRANZCP or equivalent.
• Experience in liaison psychiatry or related subspecialties (adult, addiction, neuropsychiatry).
• Strong communication skills and commitment to culturally responsive care.
