Job summary

Spectrum Care in Auckland seeks a part-time Community Support Worker for 32 hours per week, supporting adults with disabilities to live great lives. You will assist with daily living tasks and promote participation in the community, work, or education.

Ideal candidates show empathy, energy, resilience, and strong English communication. A NZ driver license and ability to pass a NZ police check are required; vocation training support is available.

Qualifications

• Interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above while you work.
• Experience supporting people with disabilities or mental health is desirable but not required.
• Reliability, commitment and passion for helping people.
• Must be able to pass NZ police check.

Community Support Worker - Permanent Reliever

Part Time - 32hours per week
$23.97 – $29.68 per hour
Auckland location

At Spectrum Care, we provide support for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives.

As a Community Support Worker you take on tasks that are dynamic and will depend on the needs and dreams of each person. You willprovide assistance with personal activities such as community participation, socialising, work or education and daily living tasks.

Skills & Experience

• Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability
• Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot
• Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations
• Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety
• Good at explaining and negotiating
• Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support
• Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills
• Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role

The ideal candidate will have:

• An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you work
• Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary
• Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people
• A full New Zealand driver's licence
• Able to pass a NZ police check
• The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email

If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered:

• Have worked in the care workforce for 3 years or more, or
• A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
