Job summary

Thames-Coromandel District Council's Tairua Library is seeking two people for a job-share role delivering library services in Tairua. Potential hours could be shared across the week: 19 hours (Sat 9-12, Mon and Fri 8-5) or 27 hours (Sat 9-12, Tue–Thu 8-5).

The role combines community engagement, reader advisory, digital support, and programme development. You will work with schools, early childhood centres, community groups and library users to keep the library vibrant and welcoming.

Qualifications

• Passion for libraries, literacy, learning and community engagement.
• Ability to build relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Creativity and confidence in developing and delivering programmes and events.

Responsibilities

• Help library users with digital technologies, online resources and everyday tech questions.
• Recommend and discuss books with adults and children.
• Plan and deliver library events and programmes.
• Handle library tasks such as issues, returns and shelving.
