Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 16th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

At Halter, we're on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you'll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We're committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn't easy, and in truth, we love that it's hard.

We're backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab's Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures.

About the Role

As Commercial Strategy Analyst, you'll be part of the engine behind Halter's strategic decisions. You'll be building models, sizing opportunities, and running qualitative and quantitative analysis that shows us where to play. When the Commercial Strategy team needs to know whether a bet is worth making, they'll come to you to help build the case.

This is a role for someone who loves getting into the data and building up research. You'll turn ambiguous questions into clean, decision-ready analysis: market and opportunity sizing, scenario and sensitivity analysis, competitor analysis and broader industry trends. You'll make the complex feel simple, and give the team clear answers they can act on fast.

You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Halter's commercial, finance, and product teams, supporting the initiatives that shape our future. You'll move between deep-focus analysis at your desk, pulling data from across the business, as well as getting out to meet farmers and ranchers so your thinking is grounded in reality.

This is a rare opportunity to build foundational analytical skills at one of the most transformative companies in agriculture - and to see your analysis directly shape major commercial decisions.

What Your Day Could Look Like

Own the quantitative analysis that underpins the Commercial Strategy team's decisions.

Source and analyse the information we need to help answer questions like where to play and how to win.

Pull together market data, competitive intelligence, and macro trends to keep our analysis current.

Support opportunity assessments for new markets, partnerships, and monetisation models with the sizing and financial structure behind them.

Translate your analysis into clear, concise charts and narratives that execs and frontline teams can quickly act on.

Partner with the Commercial Strategy Managers to take their initiatives from plan to landed outcome, owning the analytical workstream.

What We're Looking For

You love using numbers to help tell the story. Modelling in Excel or Sheets is second nature, and you take pride in files that are tidy, editable, and give clear answers without a 20-minute tour.

You can take a messy, ambiguous problem and build the data (qualitative and quantitative) that reveals the answer. You're comfortable getting an answer with half the information and refining as you learn more.

You're commercially curious. You want to understand the levers of the business and how they move.

You're rigorous and detail-oriented. You double-check your work, sanity-test your outputs, and don't let a wrong number slip through.

You communicate crisply. You can turn a complex analysis into a simple chart or one-pager that people remember and can get behind.

You build trust quickly and make people's lives easier. The team wants you in the room because you bring clarity.

You’ll Crush This Gig If You

Live in the detail. You catch the errors others miss and you sweat the assumptions behind every number.

Tell a tight story with data. Whether it's a chart, a one-pager, or a slide, you make the complex feel simple.

Own your work, end-to-end. You run your list, hit your deadlines, and keep momentum without waiting for perfect clarity.

Are hungry to learn. You want to grow into a broader commercial strategy role and soak up everything from the team around you.

Thrive in speed and ambiguity: Startups, consulting, high-growth SaaS, agtech – wherever you've been, you got sh*t done with half the info.

Bonus Points If

Experience in a quantitative, analytical role - strategy consulting, investment banking, FP&A, data analytics, or an internal strategy team.

Exposure to agtech, SaaS, or hardware businesses.

Advanced skills in Excel/Sheets, and comfort with SQL or BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) a plus.

Delicious snacks and drinks are available for your daily flow.

Healthy body, healthy mind. We're partnered with Southern Cross Health Insurance to support your well-being.

We offer 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave and many other parental benefits that support you and your family.

Our personal growth is important. Halter offers an annual $1000 self-development budget to be used for anything that fuels personal growth.

Our time to recharge is valued, we're offered wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.

Importantly, we offer an inclusive and attractive remuneration package made up of salary, benefits and an employee stock ownership plan.
