Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora’s Hawke's Bay Oncology Service seeks a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Oncology to lead and coordinate high-quality cancer care. You will supervise patient flow, advise on clinical decisions, and collaborate across nursing, medical, and allied health teams to deliver timely, coordinated care.

You will bring current NZ Nursing Council registration with APC, 3–5 years oncology experience, and a proficient PDRP portfolio.

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Recent oncology, haematology, or outpatient nursing experience with 3–5 years of clinical work.
  • PDRP portfolio at proficient level or above.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and coordination to ensure safe, effective, patient-centred oncology care.
  • Oversee patient flow, coordinate resources and staffing, and support service operations.
  • Mentor and develop nursing staff and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Oncology, you will provide clinical leadership and coordination to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient centred care. You will oversee patient flow, coordinate resources and staffing, provide expert clinical support and advice, and contribute to the smooth day to day operation of the service.

This is a rewarding role that combines hands on clinical practice with leadership responsibilities. You will work closely with nursing, medical, allied health, and support teams to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care. You will also support quality improvement initiatives, mentor and develop staff, and contribute to maintaining high standards of oncology care across the service.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Oncology Service provides specialist cancer care to patients across Hawke's Bay. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will join a dedicated team committed to delivering high quality, compassionate care and improving outcomes for patients and whānau throughout their treatment journey.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will bring:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Recent oncology, haematology, or outpatient nursing experience, with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience
  • A current Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio at proficient level or above
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and clinical decision making skills
  • IV certification including Portacath and PICC line competency
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and problem solving skills
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes
  • A passion for supporting patients, whānau, and colleagues through high quality cancer care
