Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) in Queenstown is seeking a senior commercial property lender to shape lending outcomes across Otago. You’ll manage a diverse portfolio, assess risk and partner with developers, investors and property professionals to deliver strong client outcomes.
You’ll lead high‑quality credit applications, build trusted networks, and contribute to a high‑performance team culture in a dynamic, autonomous environment.
Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."
We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.
This is a rare senior lending opportunity for an experienced commercial property professional to make a real impact across the Queenstown and wider Otago market. As a trusted advisor to our Property Finance clients, you’ll work alongside a diverse portfolio of developers, investors, and property professionals — helping shape quality lending outcomes while balancing strong client relationships, commercial performance, and risk management.
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring deep commercial property expertise and the confidence to apply sound judgement across more complex lending decisions. You’ll have a strong understanding of commercial property lending across investment, development, residual stock, land, and related transaction structures, with the ability to identify quality opportunities and shape strong client outcomes.
You’ll be comfortable operating in market, building trusted networks, and leading high-quality lending conversations from opportunity through to execution. Ideally, you’ll already have established relationships across the property sector and be able to build credibility with clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders, while maintaining a strong focus on portfolio quality, conduct, compliance, and prudent risk management.
This is one of the most distinctive opportunities within our Property Finance team. Based in Queenstown, you’ll have the chance to work across a broad and varied client base throughout the wider Otago region, with regular time in market.
For those interested in future leadership, roles like this can also provide a strong pathway into people leadership, offering the opportunity to build influence, share expertise, and contribute to the development of others across the team.
The environment is highly autonomous, giving you the space to make decisions and own your portfolio, while knowing you have an experienced and supportive leader available when you need guidance, perspective, or backup.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini" - Success is not the work of an individual, but the work of many.”
