Job summary

Jora New Zealand seeks an experienced civil litigator to join a large dispute resolution team. The role focuses on civil dispute resolution with exposure to a broad range of matters, and progression to work closely with senior lawyers and Partners.

You will own your client work, develop advocacy skills and appear in Court as often as possible, while supporting senior lawyers on more complex matters. Leadership duties include mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable background in preparing and arguing cases in a range of disputes.
• Substantial tribunal and court experience (Disputes Tribunal, District Court, High Court).
• Experience leading and delegating work to junior team members.

• Take ownership of your own client work and develop advocacy skills.
• Appear in Court as often as possible and support senior lawyers on complex matters.
• Provide guidance and review work of junior team members.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate civil litigator to compliment a large and highly accomplished dispute resolution team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate who is looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, hands-on litigation team. The role will predominantly focus on civil dispute resolution, with exposure to a broad range of matters and the opportunity to work closely with experienced senior lawyers and Partners.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your own client work, develop your advocacy skills and get into Court as often as possible, while also supporting senior lawyers on more complex matters.

About this role

It's essential to have a demonstrable background in preparing and arguing cases in a range of disputes including, but not limited to, construction contracts, unit titles, debt recovery & insolvency and trust & estates. You will also have substantial tribunal and court experience from the Disputes Tribunal, the District Court and the High Court.

As a senior member of the dispute resolution team, you will also delegate work to junior members of the team, review their work, and also provide guidance.

This is very much a hands-on and technical role for someone who is truly passionate about litigation!
