Job description

Join a leading Civil Construction company in a pivotal role where your estimating expertise will directly influence the success of key infrastructure projects across the region. As an Estimator/QS, you'll be instrumental in preparing competitive cost estimates and tender submissions, supporting our Contract Managers to secure and deliver profitable contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates based on engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and measurements for civil infrastructure works.
• Source, evaluate, and benchmark subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure cost accuracy and competitiveness.
• Assist in the development of tender schedules, construction programs, and methodology statements.
• Contribute to pricing of variations, contract claims, and budget reviews to support continuous improvement and commercial performance.

What You'll Bring:

• 3-5 years' experience in estimating or quantity surveying within the civil construction sector.
• Proficiency in estimating tools and familiarity with NZS contracts and local market rates.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and risk assessment skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities, able to liaise effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.

Desirable Attributes:

• Experience working on public sector tenders (e.g., NZTA, local councils).
• Understanding of innovative procurement methods, such as Design & Build or Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).
