Job summary

ACG Strathallan College in South Auckland (Karaka) seeks an experienced Year 7–13 Chinese Teacher. The role is permanent, part-time, commencing Term 1 in 2027. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons and support a broad student body within a high-standard international school community.

You will assess progress, provide feedback to students and parents, and contribute to the school life through co-curricular activities and pastoral initiatives. NZ teaching registration is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Chinese to Years 7–13.
  • Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons.
  • Experience assessing progress and providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building.
  • Experience coaching school sports teams.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities, camps and pastoral initiatives.
  • Cambridge International curricula is advantageous but not essential.
  • NZ Teacher registration with supporting teaching qualifications (BA and/or MBA).

We require an experienced Year 7-13 Chinese Teacher who is able to deliver motivational and differentiated lessons. The successful applicant will enjoy working as a part of a supportive team, and be willing to contribute to the corporate life of our school. The role is permanent, part-time position starting Term 1 in 2027.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver lessons that inspire and challenge all students and are in line with the school’s curriculum, policies, and external assessment requirements. You will individualise and differentiate learning, ensuring each student is stretched, supported, and makes outstanding progress.
  • Supporting and Assessing Progress: Regularly assess students’ in-class and at-home learning, providing targeted feedback to drive progress and ensure all students are challenged and supported in reaching their potential.
  • Building a Positive Learning Environment: Establish a classroom and school environment where students are invested in each other’s flourishing, feel valued and supported, and are ready to take risks in their learning.
  • Collaborating and Sharing Best Practices: Work closely with colleagues as an active member of our learning community, sharing best practices, collaborating with colleagues, and dedicating yourself to your own professional development to ensure the highest standard of education for our students.
  • Contributing to School Life: Play an active role in the school’s co-curricular programme, helping to create a well-rounded, enriching educational experience. From leading clubs to contributing to whole school initiatives, you will help shape the broader life of the school.
  • Collaborating with Parents: Maintain open and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships that support students’ progress so that each child feels like an individual, well-known and respected.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Chinese to students across Years 7-13, with the ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that support student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Experience assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing meaningful feedback to students and parents.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Experience coaching and leading school sports teams, with the ability to promote participation, teamwork, and sporting excellence.
  • Experience contributing to the wider life of a school through extracurricular activities, events, camps, and pastoral initiatives.
  • Previous experience with Cambridge International curricula is advantageous but not essential.
  • NZ Teacher registration with supporting teaching qualifications (BA and/or MBA).
