Job summary

MBIE in Wellington is seeking a senior leader for the Head of Enterprise Investment and Portfolio Management role to drive MBIE’s end-to-end investment and asset lifecycle, delivering long-term value for the Ministry and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will challenge investment decisions, govern portfolios and data-informed risk while building a high-performing team in a newly created, strategically critical role.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience across enterprise investment, portfolio and asset management.
• Strong grounding in Better Business Cases, Treasury’s Investment Management System and governance.
• Executive presence with senior leaders, Ministers and governors.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen evaluating investment and asset value at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide enterprise leadership across MBIE’s investment and asset management system, from strategic planning to delivery and benefits realisation.
• Lead investment prioritisation, portfolio optimisation and asset planning to support funding and people to high-value outcomes.
• Own investment governance and assurance, escalate portfolio risk and recommend interventions.
• Provide executive oversight of MBIE’s asset base, including performance, risk and lifecycle needs.
• Drive benefits realisation and value for money.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team.
