Job summary

Suncrest Orchard in Otago is hiring cherry pickers for the harvest season from early December through late January/early February, weather permitting. Pickers use a 2.7 metre ladder with a 5kg bucket and a harness, keeping hands free while picking.

No experience is required as we will teach efficient picking techniques and best practices to maximize productivity and fruit quality. Work starts around 6:00am, typically 7–9 hours per day, with a guaranteed minimum of 32 hours per week.

Qualifications

• You will be working outdoors in orchard conditions.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Harvest cherries using a 2.7 metre ladder and 5kg bucket.
• Use provided picking techniques to maximize yield and minimize damage.
• Carry ladder between blocks and work across the orchard.
