Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages seeks a dedicated Chef for our Hobsonville Village kitchen. This full-time fixed-term role runs from October 2026 to January 2027, with a rotating roster: Fri & Sat 7am-3:30pm; Sun-Tue 10am-6:30pm. You will prepare set meals, cafe orders, and lead culinary activities for residents.

Ideal candidates have a professional cookery qualification, chef experience, and a passion for food safety. Join a team that values quality, care, and community through food.

Qualifications

• Experienced and passionate Chef with a focus on people-centric food.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen delivering set meals and café orders.
• Strong understanding of Food Safety Plans and kitchen hygiene.
• Willingness to share culinary knowledge with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking set meals that are delivered to residents who can’t visit the cafe.
• Cooking short orders for cafe customers.
• Assisting with creating a beautiful cafe specials menu.
• complying with the approved Food Control Plan.
• Providing support and guidance to the kitchen team regarding food preparation techniques.
• Catering village fine dining and themed events.

Job Description

We’re looking for a dedicated Chef to join our team at Summerset in Monterey Park Village. This is more than just a kitchen job — it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, where every meal you prepare brings joy, comfort, and nourishment to the lives of our residents.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

• Preparing and cooking set meals that are delivered to residents that can’t come to the café
• Cooking short orders for your cafe customers
• Assisting with creating a beautiful café specials menu
• Complying with the approved Food Control Plan
• Providing support and guidance to the kitchen team regarding food preperation techniques

Alongside your day to day you can demonstrate your creative culinary flair catering our village fine dining and themed events.

Role Details

It is a full time Fixed Term role from October 2026 - January 2027. The rostered hours are Friday & Saturday 7am - 3:30pm, Sunday - Tuesday 10am - 6:30pm.

Qualifications

You will be an experienced and passionate Chef who loves to put people at the heart of their food. You will be used to a fast-paced kitchen where you will be preparing set meals as well as café orders. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, loves bringing people together over food, and enjoys going the extra mile for their customers.

• A professional cookery qualification
• Experience working as a Cook or a Chef
• Sound understanding of Food Safety Plans
• A team player who loves passing on their culinary knowledge to their colleagues
