Job summary

Compass Group New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an experienced Chef to join our aged-care team in Botany Downs on a casual basis. You will prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals that meet residents’ dietary, cultural and nutritional requirements.

As this is a casual position, shifts will be offered as required with no guaranteed weekly hours. There are opportunities to move to permanent roles in the future depending on business need.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery or equivalent.
• NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168).
• Previous cooking experience in an aged-care, healthcare or similar environment.
• Strong communication and a caring, resident-focused approach.
• Physically fit and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, portion and present nutritious, high-quality meals.
• Adapt meals to meet residents’ dietary and cultural requirements.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, infection control and quality standards.
• Assist with ordering, receiving supplies, stock rotation and waste reduction.
• Keep the kitchen, equipment and food prep areas clean and organized.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a positive dining experience.
