Rappaw Veterinary Care in Porirua is seeking a reliable Cattery Attendant to join our busy team at the Central Hospital on Kenepuru Drive. You’ll care for feline guests, ensure their comfort, and help maintain a clean, welcoming boarding environment.

This role suits someone who loves cats, pays close attention to detail, and can work independently with supervision provided as needed. Training is available, and you’ll work with a friendly, supportive team until busy periods require extra hours.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with cats or in an animal care environment is preferred
  • Confident and comfortable handling cats of different ages and temperaments
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work unsupervised
  • Physically capable of cleaning and maintaining boarding areas
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
  • Friendly and professional with clients and team members

Job description

Rappaw Veterinary Care is looking for a reliable and caring Cattery Attendant to join our team at our small cattery based at our Central Hospital on Kenepuru Drive. This role would suit someone who loves cats, has great attention to detail, and enjoys working independently while providing excellent care for our feline guests.

Key responsibilities

Feeding, watering, and caring for cats staying in the cattery

Cleaning and maintaining cat accommodation to a high standard

Monitoring cats for signs of illness, stress, or changes in behaviour

Providing enrichment, comfort, and attention to ensure a positive boarding experience

Administering medications as directed (training provided)

Maintaining accurate care and feeding records

Ensuring the cattery remains clean, organised, and welcoming

About you

Previous experience working with cats or in an animal care environment is preferred

Confident and comfortable handling cats of different ages and temperaments

Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work unsupervised

Physically capable of cleaning and maintaining boarding areas

Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness

Friendly and professional with clients and team members

Available to work additional hours during busy periods when required

New Zealand residency or valid New Zealand work visa required
