About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic, organised, and adaptable individuals to join our Administration Team on a casual basis at Timaru Hospital.

Your flexibility and professionalism will help ensure our services continue to run smoothly and efficiently.

Casual opportunities are available across both weekday positions (Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 5.00pm) and rostered shift-based roles operating across a 24-hour, seven-day service.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Administration Team provides vital support services across Timaru Hospital and works closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure patients, whānau, visitors, and staff receive a professional and efficient service.

Located in the heart of South Canterbury, Timaru offers an exceptional lifestyle with affordable housing, excellent schools, short commute times, and easy access to beaches, lakes, mountains, skiing, hiking, and cycling. It's a fantastic place to build your career while enjoying genuine work-life balance.

About You

You're someone who enjoys helping others and remains calm and organised in a busy environment. You take pride in delivering excellent customer service and building positive relationships with a wide range of people.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A genuine commitment to customer service

  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A professional approach and commitment to confidentiality
  • A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and work across different departments
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes for Māori
  • Previous administration experience within a healthcare environment
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Knowledge of hospital or healthcare administration systems
