Job summary

Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is seeking Case Manager professionals for frontline support across income, housing and employment services in Hawke’s Bay regions. You will guide New Zealanders through transitions, balancing policy with empathy and accuracy, and connect clients to the right services at the right time.

You’ll play a key role in mortgage, housing and financial support workflows, working within a high-trust environment while promoting digital self-service and client empowerment.

  • Refer clients to external providers and collaborate with others.
  • Meet with the team to reflect, troubleshoot, and support each other.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

Case Managers are the face of public service at the frontline. You’ll work with New Zealanders navigating challenging life situations, such as employment changes, or financial stress, and help connect them to the right support at the right time. You may also be working with housing transitions which includes social and emergency housing.

This is complex, high trust mahi. You’ll be making decisions that impact whānau and communities, balancing empathy and policy, speed and accuracy. If you value people, process, and purpose, and can bring calm to complexity — this could be the role for you.

We also have an opportunity in our Case Manager Seniors space for someone to work alongside our people to support superannuation clients with financial and Housing support, connecting them to a wide range of services and other assistance as required.
