Job summary

Turbo Staff Ltd in Canterbury is seeking an experienced carpenter to join our skilled team. The role involves a wide range of carpentry and construction tasks, focusing on safe, accurate, and timely contract works in accordance with site plans.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven competency with prior experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction procedures and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and measurements accurately.
  • Proficient in framework erection, panel systems, roof framing, sub-flooring, and verification of structural alignment.
  • Skilled in assembling, installing, and repairing wood structures and fixtures.
  • Knowledge of bricklaying, mortar application, and precision joint work.
  • Comfortable working at varying heights and ensuring structural precision.

Responsibilities

  • Study drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Order, select, and prepare timbers and other required materials.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble wood parts, nail and secure structures with precision.
  • Erect frameworks, roof framing, sub-flooring, and floorboards, ensuring trueness and accurate alignment.
  • Perform installation of cladding, fascia, doors, windows, and other fittings.
  • Sheath roofs and assemble prepared wood for structures and fittings.
  • Carry out concrete formwork, cutting wood joints, and repairing existing fittings when required.
  • Install and fabricate a variety of materials such as timber, stone, brick, metal, plastic laminates, and Perspex.
  • Install glass and mirrors in windows, skylights, doors, interior partitions, and display areas.
  • Operate machinery, power tools, and hand tools effectively (e.g., nail guns, skillsaws, drills, grinders, and drop saws).
  • Assist with additional onsite tasks such as mixing and spreading concrete, loading/unloading materials, insulating buildings, fitting awnings/screens, erecting scaffolding, digging trenches, and general site preparation.
