Job summary

University of Otago is seeking a Career Practitioner for the Career Development Centre in Dunedin. The role delivers one-to-one career guidance, workshops, and targeted programmes to help students explore options and transition to employment or further study.

You will engage with diverse learners, develop resources, and collaborate with industry partners to strengthen employability outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Ōtepoti/Dunedin.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in career development, education, psychology, HR management, or related discipline.
• Experience providing career guidance or employability support.
• Experience designing and facilitating workshops or learning programmes.
• Strong relationship-building and engagement skills.
• Commitment to culturally responsive and equity-focused practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one career development consultations and workshops.
• Lead employability programmes and postgraduate/career pathway support.
• Develop career resources and digital tools.
• Engage with employers and industry partners for opportunities.
• Conduct career systems work and produce reporting/analytics.
• Support diverse student populations across study levels.
