Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced registered nurse dedicated to improving experiences for patients with suspected or new cancer diagnoses. You will join the Cancer Nurse Coordination team, coordinating with diagnostic and treatment services to improve outcomes and act as a key contact for patients, helping to remove barriers so treatment starts within recommended timeframes.

This role focuses on supporting patients from high-suspicion referrals to definitive treatment,

Qualifications

Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
Significant experience in cancer nursing or a related specialty.
Relevant postgraduate qualification or working towards.
Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, care coordination and quality improvement.
Commitment to achieving equitable health outcomes and reducing inequities across the cancer pathway.
Experience working within Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora context.

Responsibilities

Advocate for equitable access and outcomes for patients.
Provide care coordination across the cancer pathway.
Identify barriers to care, seek solutions and intervene as appropriate.
Lead and contribute to service improvement to support achievement Faster Cancer Treatment (FCT) targets.
