Flying Kites is seeking a calm, patient, and confdent caregiver to support a 15-year-old with a cognitive disability over the holidays, and ideally beyond. You will help with social cues, English, and community activities, acting as a positive role model in a warm, steady presence.

You’ll stay calm when challenged, explain things clearly, and use simple strategies to guide progression. Reliability and clear communication with the family are essential.

Qualifications

• Patient, gentle and confident demeanor.
• Experience or understanding of cognitive disabilities preferred.
• Reliable availability over the holidays with potential long-term continuation.
• Essential: car and full licence required.

Responsibilities

• Support a 15-year-old with a cognitive disability during the holidays.
• Help with English and basic writing; encourage participation in community activities.
• Explain things clearly and provide simple, structured guidance (e.g., first this, then that).
• Set and maintain consistent boundaries in collaboration with the family.
• Communicate progress and plans with mum; build a trusting relationship.
