Job summary

Tony's Tyres & Auto Care in Palmerston North is seeking a hands-on store leader to drive performance across sales, profitability and people. This 45-hour week roving role may support nearby stores in the Central North Island, with autonomy to lead your team your way.

You will hire, coach and develop staff, maintain health and safety, manage inventory, and report on KPIs to the Retail Operations Manager. A full NZ driver's licence and a proven track record in retail or automotive leadership are

• Experience in tyre or wider automotive industry is highly advantageous.

Job description

The Opportunity

This is a full leadership position primarily based in Palmerston North, with a strong focus on supporting our local team. As this is a roving position, you may be required to support other stores within the Central North Island region as required. You'll be responsible for everything that happens inside the store, from hitting sales targets and managing the P&L, to building a team that delivers exceptional customer service every single day. You'll work closely with the Retail Operations Manager and the wider support team as you step into the role, with the autonomy to lead your team your way.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Driving store performance across sales targets, profitability, budgets and reporting


• Leading, coaching and developing your team to be the best they can be


• Delivering an exceptional customer experience and building lasting customer relationships


• Managing inventory, stock control and store presentation to company standards


• Ensuring full health, safety and compliance across all areas of the store


• Conducting performance reviews and keeping your team on a clear development pathway

This is a 45-hour per week role, Monday to Saturday.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll bring experience, energy, and a genuine passion for leading people. To be considered, you’ll need:

• A minimum of 3 years' proven management experience in a retail, automotive or trade environment


• A track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets


• Strong people leadership skills - you know how to get the best out of a team


• Experience in the tyre or wider automotive industry (highly advantageous)


• Sharp commercial acumen and confident business reporting skills


• A full, clean New Zealand Driver's Licence


• A positive, solutions-focused attitude and the drive to lead by example
