Job summary

ProAuto in Rolleston is seeking an experienced Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning Technician to join our growing team. You will work on automotive electrical systems, air conditioning servicing, and a mix of vehicle fit-outs and technology installations.

Responsibilities

• Perform automotive electrical repairs, installations and fault finding.
• Service automotive air conditioning, repairs and regassing.
• Carry out commercial and specialist vehicle fit-outs.
• Install vehicle accessories and technology.
• Handle GPS tracking and vehicle communications installations.
• Contribute to general automotive tasks when required (servicing, brakes, suspension).
• Test, commission and complete job documentation.

Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning Technician

This isn't a role where you'll spend every day doing the same workshop jobs.

One day you might be carrying out automotive electrical work or servicing an A/C system. The next you could be completing a commercial vehicle fit-out, installing vehicle technology, tackling an electrical fault or turning your hand to some general automotive work.

The Role

You'll be involved in a varied mix of work, including:

• Automotive electrical repairs, installations and fault finding

• Automotive air conditioning servicing, repairs and regassing

• Commercial and specialist vehicle fit-outs

• Vehicle accessory and technology installations

• GPS tracking and vehicle communications installations

• General automotive tasks when required, including servicing, brakes and suspension

• Testing, commissioning and completing job documentation

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a practical automotive all-rounder who:

• Has solid hands-on automotive electrical experience

• Has experience with automotive air conditioning

• Enjoys varied work and is comfortable turning their hand to different automotive tasks

• Takes genuine pride in producing high-quality work

• Has good practical problem-solving and fault-finding skills

• Is reliable and able to work independently while also being part of a team

• Is comfortable learning and working with new vehicle technology

• Holds a full New Zealand Driver Licence

Welding and fabrication skills would be an advantage, but aren't essential.

Experience with general automotive mechanical work, such as servicing, brakes and suspension, would also be an advantage but isn't essential.

You don't necessarily need to tick every box. If you've got strong automotive electrical and/or air conditioning experience, practical ability and the right attitude, we'd still like to hear from you.
