Job summary

AlterSec is seeking a CyberSecurity Analyst to join a small hands-on DevSecOps team in Auckland North Shore. The role offers broad exposure across security domains and ownership of varied tasks based on skills and experience.

The candidate should be curious, analytic, and capable of handling challenging assignments with a strong ethical approach. Immediate availability is preferred and eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent with interest in cybersecurity
• Familiarity with service desk processes and incident escalations is desirable
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security stack
• Strong English communication and documentation skills
• Organization and attention to detail under pressure
• Customer-focused with ability to manage expectations and deliver services
• Knowledge of information security best practices and incident response
• Hands-on experience in AI, coding and automation
• Linux and Windows system administration
• Cloud configuration management in Azure and AWS
• Experience with security tools (SIEM, identity, endpoint, email protection, WAF, threat intel, vulnerability management)
• Industry certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Monitor support requests, security events and triage incidents
• Investigate security events and escalate incidents
• Document and review guidelines, policies and procedures
• Assess, implement and maintain security controls
• Design, code, test and maintain cybersecurity solutions
• Participate in security reviews, pen-testing and related engagements
• Continuously monitor risks and seek improvement opportunities
