Job summary

Fonterra Te Mātāpuna is seeking an Associate Solution Architect – Data to turn finance and business requirements into trusted data solutions. You’ll work hands-on with SQL and Databricks to profile source data, model data, and support data reconciliation and lineage.

You’ll collaborate with Data Engineers and BI teams, growing in dimensional modelling, data warehousing, and semantic modelling, contributing to end-to-end data solution design while staying hands-on with data delivery.

The vision for oCFO Data & AI is to ‘automate and augment finance with Data & AI’, which we have been progressing via a roadmap of data product development and selective AI POC’s. Building on success, we are now increasing team capability in data governance, data architecture and product design, and AI. As we expand our team, we are looking to hire an Associate Solution Architect – Data.

About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

As an Associate Solution Architect – Data, you’ll be a hands‑on member of the team, helping turn Finance and business requirements into trusted, well‑designed data solutions.

You’ll work directly with data, using SQL and Databricks to investigate and profile source data, build and maintain data models and ERDs, develop source‑to‑target mappings and support data reconciliation, quality and lineage. You’ll also work closely with Data Engineers and BI teams to help ensure data products are built in line with agreed designs.

Working alongside experienced Solution Architects and the wider Data & AI team, you’ll receive technical guidance and design support as you develop your capability across dimensional modelling, data warehousing, Databricks, Finance data and semantic modelling.

This is a great opportunity for someone who already has a strong technical data foundation and wants to grow into solution architecture while remaining hands‑on with data and delivery.

You’re a technically curious data professional who enjoys getting into the detail, understanding how data works and solving problems.

You may have built your experience in data analysis, BI development, analytics engineering, data warehousing or data modelling and are now looking to broaden your skills into end‑to‑end data solution design.

You’re comfortable using SQL to explore and validate data, enjoy understanding how different data sets fit together and have an interest in developing robust, reusable data models rather than simply solving individual reporting requirements.

Most importantly, you’re willing to ask questions, learn from experienced practitioners, take feedback positively and progressively take greater ownership of data design.
